Dr. Olayemi, Israel Kayode is an Associate Professor and presently the Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna; a position he has held from October, 2013 till date. He obtained B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph. D degrees in Zoology from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. In his undergraduate training, Dr Olayemi was a ‘University Scholar’ (i.e., University Scholarship for the over-all best student) and won several academic prizes/distinctions including, the overall best graduating student in the Department - 1994/1995 graduating class.
A renowned Entomologist, Dr Olayemi’s research interests are in the domains of Bio-ecology and Molecular Biology of mosquito vectors, especially, those of the genera Anopheles and Culex, as well as insecticide and drug discoveries for the control of mosquitoes and diseases mediated by them, respectively. To this end, Dr Olayemi has published over 50 scholarly articles in reputable National and International outlets. He has attended several National and International conferences. He is a member of the Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN).
Dr Olayemi is actively involved in the teaching of Zoological and allied courses and project supervision of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised over twenty (30) B. Tech, nineteen (19) M.Tech, and seven (7) Ph.D research students, with some of the postgraduate works ongoing. Administratively, He has held severally offices of responsibility ranging from Departmental to University level assignments; including Level Adviser, Project Co-ordinator, Examination Officer, Member of several committees and Boards. Dr. Olayemi has to his credit impressive awards of several research grants and International linkages, funded by FUT Senate, TETFund and USAID/ University of Mississippi.
Dr. Olayemi is happily married with children, and takes extra-curricular interests in Public Health Campaign, Table tennis, reading biographies and listening to good music.

The programme aspires to produce students with opportunities to develop biological skills needed for competitive career actualization in Nigeria and beyond.

To produce highly motivated and enterprising graduates with up-to-date knowledge and skills in Biological Sciences for research and application purposes.
